The Russell Chest Seal (RCS). Fast, Easy & Intuitive to Apply.
The Russell Chest Seal is a hydrogel-based dressing with an integral low-profile valve. Its purpose is to cover penetrating chest wounds to allow air to escape from the pleural cavity without being drawn back in, with the ultimate aim to minimise associated lung collapse and facilitate lung re-inflation.
The base material of the Russell Chest Seal is a hydrogel matrix, which comprises a water-containing gel, mounted onto a non-woven fabric with silicon coated release liners.

The Russell Chest Seal has been tried, tested and proven on military operations and emergency medical care situations. The Russell Chest Seal adheres effectively to sweaty & hairy skin, and will remain adhered over many hours for prolonged use remaining comfortable for the casualty. The chest seal will remain adhered for up to 24 hours.

The Russell Chest Seal has a unique low profile and flexibility. It is supplied in a pre-folded form to make it easy to stow into medical & first responder kits. In low light conditions, the valve can be ‘felt’ to be working making it ideal for military and emergency response operations.
