NIO Paediatric™ 18g Intraosseous Access Device. 99% Success Rate With Vascular Access in Less Than 10 Seconds.

The NIO Paediatric™ is the go to device when you need immediate and instant vascular access, the NIO Paediatric™ is automatic and ready for quick, safe and easy vascular access in less than 10 seconds making the NIO Paediatric™ the ideal tool for any emergency situation involving children aged 3 to 12 years old.

The NIO Intraosseous Access Device functions differently from manual and drill based devices, the NIO design is not based on needle length but rather proximity to the bone when the needle is deployed. When the needle is deployed, the user is required to apply firm pressure with the palm of the hand - the pressure applied causes localised compression at the incision site, which shortens the distance the needle needs to travel.

By offering instant intravascular access, the delivery of fluids and medication flows at higher rates than IV infusion. With the help of the NIO Paediatric™, IO infusion can be established in less than 10 seconds by simply positioning and pressing firmly into place on either the proximal tibia or proximal humerus. The use of an NIO Paediatric™ Intraosseous Device dramatically increases the medic or trained first responders ability to save lives.

With the NIO Paediatric™ establishing IO infusion within 10 seconds, it's perfect for high-pressure or extreme emergency situations, or when previous intravenous access has been unsuccessful. The NIO Paediatric™ is ideal for the rapid infusion of liquids or drugs and suitable for blood transfusion.

Supplied in a compact, easy to open package, the NIO Paediatric™ is complete and ready for use requiring no assembly or external power source to work. Simply use and dispose.

Safety features to prevent accidental deployment and user error:

  • Rotating safety latch - prevents accident activation and needle deployment
  • Unique location arrows - aids insertion site identification
  • Needle stabliser - activates with firm pressure and assists in securing the needle to the limb
  • Adjustable needle penetration depth - one device for all paediatric patients
  • Trigger wings - compressing against the skin whilst squeezing the trigger wings activates the device
  • Mechanical stopper - limits needle depth and prevents over penetration
  • Stabiliser base - aids in the removal of the catheter

The NIO is a fast, safe and reliable intraosseous device combined with user-friendly operation to ensure ease of operation in the most extreme conditions. The NIO Adult™ is a "grab 'n' go" device that is ready for immediate use, with zero maintenance required.

Clinically Proven Success.

  • Safe on the bone - The NIO has been proven to be safe on the bone and resulted in zero incidents of bone fracture as observed by post-insertion x-rays
  • Easily tolerates common user errors - if the needle placement is up to 5cm from the correct insertion site, the NIO maintained an 85% success rate
  • Faster than drill-based devices
  • 5 year shelf life vs other devices
  • Eliminates the risk of CLABSI
